Nuit Blanche 2018

CONNECTIONS
Group Show One Path – W-O-M-A-N

Kelly Carroll

Artist Statement

“The connections between and among women are the most feared, the most problematic, and the most potentially transforming force on the planet.”
-Adrienne Rich

My subject for this piece is women. Very specifically, the connections that all women share despite our differences. Working with packing tape, wire, and many patient women willing to model, I wish to show that regardless of the body we are born into and the different ways in which we perceive the world, we share a commonality and connection to each other within.

I was inspired by the work of sculptor, Mark Jenkins, and textile artist, Barbara Cook.

Thank you to my parents, Tammy and Rob Carroll, and to my many models for their time, patience and love through this process.

Sit down, relax, join the conversations and get to know these women.

Selfies welcomed!

Nuit Blanche Prep!

The first attempt! And my fiance's reaction, which I found very amusing. My helper did not want her face shown.

Having a kiddo around always helps

I was experimenting with how to do the heads at first before deciding to do without. I like the way it ended up.
